The inaugural edition of ‘The 6IXTY’ - a brand-new format introduced by Cricket West Indies (CWI) gets underway on August 24 in St Kitts. The first-of-its-kind competition will feature 12 men’s matches and seven women’s matches over a period of five action-packed days in the Caribbean. Teams will be seen competing for the ‘Universe Boss Trophy’ named after the tournament ambassador and explosive West Indian batter, Chris Gayle.
The 6ixty will see each team playing 60 balls (10 overs) with six wickets in hand in every match. The T10 format is set to become even more entertaining with a host of innovative and exciting rules that will come into play as the match progresses.
The opening encounter of the women’s tournament will see Barbados Royals taking on Trinbago Knight Riders at the Warner Park in St Kitts. The men’s edition will kickstart a day later, with the Guyana Amazon Warriors facing off against Saint Lucia Kings at the same venue.
The 6ixty will conclude on August 28, with the knockouts and finals both being played on the same day.
